I too am the main writer of our book so I empathize with you on these points. Just finished a script that my artist is working on and the one thing that forced me to consolidate and prioritize the best ideas is the cost of the artist pages.

I like to keep our books at 24 pages but after much deliberation, 28 pages is where we landed for this issue.

As far as getting into comics...would you believe I have a blog about that 😅

I dig your stories with Detective Comics. There was nothing quite like diving into a serialized story way down the line and trying to piece it all together. In a weird way, the act of trying to put all those missed pieces together in our mind was a big part of the fun. Made us feel like detectives in our own right!

Speaking of Detectives and The Bat, did you check out Batman: Dark Patterns? I’ve just picked up the collected edition featuring the full 12 issue run, I’m only about 1/4 in but loving it so far.

Thanks! Yes, I had a similar experience with Uncanny X-men #300 and then trying to piece together how we got here...with no internet, mind you! LOL! I have not checked out Dark Patterns. I'm subscribed to the DC app with the INTENT to read more comics but I find myself gravitating towards other indie books nowadays. Especially as I've gotten to meet more of the creators either during podcasts or in person at cons.

Great meeting you at C2E2!! My comics “origin story” is from 5th grade when a friend lent me a couple random Marvel comics and I discovered Archie Double Digests in the supermarket checkout. 😊

Such a pleasure meeting you, Devin. I hope we get the chance to speak again soon!!

My first encounter with comics was in the school library. Tintin, Asterix, Lucky Luke. All that Franco-Belgian stuff.

Recent stuff I like... there isn't much that excites me but there's a new series called "Is Ted Ok?" that has me intrigued.

Ohh.. Dave Chisholm, the writer / artist of ‘Is Ted Ok?’ is the dude behind ‘Miles Davis and the Search for Sound’, which was some exceptional comic booking. I really need to support this new book. Thanks for the call out.

Your foundation is with the Belgian masters is a pretty sturdy stuff!

I’m ignorant on that front. I took a TinTin collection out from the library to read with my son and sadly it didn’t strike a chord for him. But hey, it’s still there for me.

Tintin is more about wonder, Asterix and Lucky Luke are more about the humour.
